October is Audiology Awareness Month, a month dedicated to sharing information about conditions that affect your ability to hear and the hearing healthcare experts who work on treating those conditions. The American Academy of Audiology first established Audiology Awareness Month in 2008.

The purpose of this month of awareness is to educate the public about hearing-related disorders and how they can impact those diagnosed with them. The goal is to recognize the individuals affected by hearing loss and create a better understanding of what life is like when you cannot hear fully. During October, audiologists share symptoms you should look out for, causes and risk factors, and management tips.

This month is vital for hearing care and creating an accepting world for those with hearing impairment. It also brings attention to the audiology profession, which makes a world of difference for patients with hearing loss.
